35 Sulu armed men shot dead

According to Malaysian Defense Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, 35 armed men were allegedly shot dead by Philippine forces while entering Sabah Malaysia.

Zahid said that the 35 men refused to turn back and were shot dead on by Philippine Navy and Coast Guard forces before they could enter Malaysian waters.

Philippine Navy spokesman Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo disputed the report, "I have just spoken to our Naval Task Force commander based in Tawi-Tawi and no such report came to his attention as of our 2:25 p.m. conversation."

Capt. Renato Yonke, commander of the Naval Task Force 62 based in Tawi-Tawi, says the border with Malaysia has been “very quiet,” and “we have no information on that."

He added “Our blockade remains in place and what we’re documenting are evacuees coming from the other side... We have not encountered any armed group (entering Malaysian waters).”
