Dismantle NPA Checkpoints

The police and the military were ordered by President PNoy on Monday to dismantle NPA checkpoints and defend politicians campaigning in NPA controlled areas. The order was issued 2 days after NPA attacked and wounded Gingoog City Mayor Guingona at an NPA checkpoint in Misamis Oriental.
PNoy visited the mayor at Capitol University Medical City in Cagayan de Oro City.
Aquino in a speech in Misamis Oriental said, "I pledge, within my power and abilities (as President), and in the name of the law, to exact accountability from those responsible for this."
Ruth de Lara Guingona, wife of former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr., survived bullets and grenade blasts. She is in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
