Camcorders a requirement in Coast Guard patrols

The Filipino Coast Guard  thinks about the possibility of requiring its units to carry along a camcorder every time they embark on a mission or routine patrol, PCG commandant Rear Adm. Rodolfo Isorena stated Saturday.

Isorena stated this was a offshoot from the killing by PCG personnel of the Taiwanese fisherman within the Balintang channel within the north on May 9.

He stated the PCG would also review its rules of engagement and it is memorandum of agreement with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. PCG representative Lt. Cmdr. Armand Balilo stated all of the 69 PCG stations, nine ships, and 180 detachments through the country happen to be released camcorders.

Balilo stated that before the killing of the Taiwanese fisherman, the PCG had been likely to provide camcorders to the districts and stations. Balilo stated the camcorders cost around P30,000 each.
